I LOVE STARTING MY DAY BY REALIZING THAT I FORGOT WHAT FUCKING DAY OF THE WEEK IT IS AND KNOWING THAT I PROBABLY HAVE A FUCKING TICKET.
THE BEST MOST IRRITATING PART OF THIS IS THAT I COULD NOT SLEEP SO I WAS UP AT 7AM (NO PARKING STARTS AT 8AM) AND I HAVE BEEN SITTING HERE FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT AND THEN IT FINALLY OCCURS TO ME WHAT DAY IT IS.
I NEVER KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A DESK JOB AND I WORK RANDOM DAYS SO I HAD TO LOOK AT A CALENDAR TO SEE WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK IT WAS AND THAT IS WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS A STREET CLEANING DAY.
THESE ARE THE MOMENTS THAT I FUCKING HATE LIVING IN LA.

I AM TOTALLY PISSED AT THE WORLD RIGHT NOW.
I HAVE NOT FORGOT ABOUT STREET CLEANING IN SOOO LONG, I USED TO DO IT AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH ALMOST, BUT IN THE LAST 2 YEARS THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED MAYBE TWICE. WHEN I FORGET ONE TIME IT TOTALLY NULL AND VOIDS ALL OF THE HUNDREDS OF TIMES I HAVE REMEMBERED.
GRRRR.
SINCE I AM VENTING:
I HATE WEDDING PLANNING.
I HATE PMS.
I HATE DOING LAUNDRY.
I HATE DOING DISHES.
I HATE SHOPPING FOR A STUPID DRESS FOR MY BRIDAL SHOWER.
I HATE HAVING TO GO TO FEDEX.
I HATE PAYING FOR PARKING EVERY DAY TO GO TO WORK.

As for the bridal shower dress, anthropologie usually has a nice rotation of dresses that are not too expensive, have interesting detailing and fit a variety of body types. With vintage flair and an array of fabrics, they work well any time of day and can be styled to your heart's content.
jcrew (and their online store) has a great array of styles -- check out their bridesmaids boutique for tea/cocktail length and solid color dresses.
elisa b in old town pasadena has a small but well-edited selection.
Nordstrom usually has both regular and sale priced items and a terrific return policy. There are some attractive styles online to preview. Lovely new frocks from DVF / Marc Jacobs and more affordable dresses from Maggie London. Can sort by color, style, etc.
Custom colored dresses can be ordered from alix & kelly, Jenny Yoo, Thread (among others) - all have local LA showrooms. Not sure what your lead time is.
